Operations Technician 2 - CenturyLink

CenturyLink has an opening for an Operations Technician II in the Dedicated Network Operations Center (DNOC) located at the Social Security Administrations National Computer Center in Woodlawn, MD. The DNOC provides 24x7x4 on-site dedicated support and trouble resolution for the Social Security Administrations premier MPLS backbone and IP product lines.The Operations Technician II provides proactive and reactive network surveillance, troubleshooting, coordination and restoration of service affecting or potentially affecting network events/issues. The Operations Technician 2 also coordinates and monitors dispatches, provides technical assistance to field maintenance personnel and tracks ongoing and higher level troubles. The Operations Technician 2 also manages escalations and provides documentation related to network troubles. The technician works exclusively with SSA personnel, LEC technicians, 3rd party vendors, and other internal CenturyLink groups.

The ideal candidate will have experience in the following:

  • Wide Area Networking monitoring, maintenance, & troubleshooting
  • Basic knowledge of troubleshooting issues on a MPLS network.
  • Troubleshooting TDM and Ethernet circuits
  • Basic knowledge of IP architecture
  • Basic knowledge of troubleshooting circuit degradation issues, including utilization, bandwidth and latency problems
  • Routing protocols to include BGP
  • Router operations & configurations of Cisco, Juniper, and/or Alcatel routers
  • Hardware configuration and installation
  • Working with local exchange carriers
  • Working in a 24x7 NOC
  • Trouble ticketing applications

The desired candidate should possess the following:

  • The desire to work in a complex and fast-paced 24x7 call center.
  • A high level of proficiency with trouble ticketing applications
  • A high level of proficiency with network monitoring and trouble diagnoses tools
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Answer inbound calls and/or redirect calls to proper CenturyLink organization if required.
  • The ability to articulate in both written and verbal methods of communication
  • The ability to work with minimal supervision
  • The ability to work off hours/on call and during holidays.
  • Experience with basic commands in Cisco, Juniper, and/or UNIX commands

Educational
Qualifications:

  • 3
    year of Network Operations Center experience
  • Associate degree in Engineering, Electronics, Networking or related technical or vocational education or equivalent experience. Formal education may be substituted for 5
    years of related work experience.
  • Cisco and Alcatel certifications are a plus.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
